This year the annual competition Tiger Meet took place at the Base d'Aéronautique Navale (BAN) Landivisiau, lacated in Brittany, the France's most North-Western point. Due the vicinity of the Atlantic Ocean the key-word for this year was "Ocean Tiger". The tiger unit that hosted the event was the Flotille 11F, equipped with the Super Etendard Modernizée. For the 11F this was a once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. The unit usually to be deployed aboard the french carrier Charles de Gaulle, but the vessel was in a dry-dock for maintenance and refuelling, procedures that take more than a year, giving to the squadron the necessary time-frame for organize the event.
Also this year a lot of tiger squadrons have replied to the call, and brought to the french base men and aircrafts. For the first time the Czech AF unit 211th Squadron from Cáslav, have partecipated to the event bringing also its new kind of aircraft, the JAS-39C/D Gripen. Because of their active participation they became probationary members of the NTA. A nice addiction for the tiger fleet was also the small jet trainer Saab-105, from Austrian AF. For the third time in a row the spanish AF's unit ALA15 have brought their EF-18A/Bs to the TM, and due the active presence they have received the Full Member status within NTA.
A big miss for the 2008 event was the 335 Mira. Who can forgot their tiger scheme A-7E... unfortunately this squadron is currently converting to the F-16C Block52+ and was unable to bring to the Tiger Meet any aircraft. Only a delegation was present. But there was a welcome return! It was the Italian AF 21° Gruppo that have brought a very colorfull AB.212ICO that celebrated the 90th Anniversary of the Squadron. Unfortunately they wasn't able to partecipated to the exercise, like the 231st Squadron they are still involved in ISAF operations in Afghanistan.
Weekend-only visitors was the 338 Skvadron from Orland (unit that hosted the 2007 TM) with two F-16, one of them in tiger special c/s, and 313 Squadron from Vlb Volkel that bring to the airshow its F-16 Demo Aircraft.
